"We have made the first step towards historical changes," Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman said on Friday. He made the statement after the Constitutional Commission had discussed, adopted and sent for consideration of the President of Ukraine the draft law on introduction of amendments into the Constitution of Ukraine touching upon the decentralization.

"I am confident that after the adoption of the document by the absolute majority of deputies, we will make Ukraine successful. I am sure this is the key to our success," Groysman said.

"I’d like to congratulate members of the Constitutional Commission on the first decision we have passed. I'd like to stress that we continue the work and will further elaborate proposals. Now it is important that the President of Ukraine submits his proposals to the Constitution for consideration of the Parliament letting us work," Groysman said.

The Head of the Verkhovna Rada thanked members of the Constitutional Commission and the Venice Commission and assured that the conclusions of the Venice Commission will continue being "the pointer" in further work.
